1. Admission of members to the International Federation of Psychoanalysis shall be subject to the Membership Committee.
  2. Members of the Federation may be individuals and legal entities engaged in professional activities in the field of psychoanalysis, psychology, psychotherapy and other social sciences, sharing the goals and objectives of the Federation in accordance with the conditions stipulated by the Statutes of the International Federation of Psychoanalysis.
  3. Each IFP member adopts the Statutes and adheres to the Ethics Code of the International Federation of Psychoanalysis.
  4. The Membership Committee accepts, postpones or rejects the decision of membership with a single majority vote. The Membership Committee will state the reason(s) for the refusal in writing to the candidate member.
  5. All documents and decisions concerning the admission procedure are handled in a way that preserves confidentiality.
  6. Members are either individuals, or organizations.
  7. In order to apply for membership as an individual member the candidate must address a personal written application to the Membership Committee. The basis for admission as a collective member is the decision of the General meeting of organization, which activities correspond to the goals and objectives of the International Federation of Psychoanalysis. Authorized representatives of the collective IFP member may participate in the activities of the Federation with an advisory vote.
  8. Individual membership is implemented in the following forms: full and honorary.
  9. Admission of honorary members shall be subject to the IFP General meetings upon a special nomination by the IFP Board the candidates who have made a significant personal contribution to the activities of the International Federation of Psychoanalysis and to the development of world psychoanalytic theory and practice.
  10.  The form of collective membership does not automatically determine the form of individual membership in the International Federation of Psychoanalysis, which is determined personally for each individual member.
  11.  A member may leave the Federation willingly at any time by submitting a written application to the Membership Committee. Such a member shall be deemed to be free from obligation from the date stated in the application.
  12.  Each IFP member (with exception of honorary members) has to pay the annual membership fee. If a member fails to pay the annual membership fee or other compulsory payments, it is regarded as a voluntary withdrawal from membership in the Federation.
  13.  Any member is to be excluded from the Federation without prior warning for the following reasons:
    • material damage caused to the Federation;
    • dissemination of false information in order to discredit the reputation of the organization;
    • violation of the law;
    • non-compliance with the Statutes and the Ethics Code of the Federation.
  14. The decision on exclusion from the Federation is taken with a single majority vote of all those present at the meeting of the Board members and is signed by the President of the Federation.
  15. The Ethics Committee of IPF has the power to suspend membership, either temporarily or permanently, for an offence of ethics – subsequent to the ratification to the Board of IFP. This decision may be brought before the General Assembly of IFP by any involved party; the decision of the Assembly is final.
  16. The members of the Federation have the right:
    • to participate in managing the affairs of the Federation in accordance with the Statutes;
    • to elect and be elected to the governing bodies of the Federation;
    • to be assisted in defending their professional rights and interests;
    • to enjoy all the benefits ensured by IFP membership (to receive on favorable terms and use in their work the scientific and information materials of the Federation);
    • to apply for priority consideration of their developments and materials for their inclusion into the programs of conferences and seminars (but without a guarantee of automatic inclusion), in the collective and periodic publications of the Federation.
  17. The members of the Federation undertake:
    • to comply with the Statutes and the internal regulations of the Federation;
    • to follow the decisions of the governing bodies of the Federation;
    • to actively participate in the work and contribute to the implementation of the goals and objectives of the Federation;
    • to pay the annual membership fees on a regular and timely basis;
    • not to disseminate false information discrediting the reputation of the Federation.
  18.  The Register of members is constantly updated and published on the website of the International Federation of Psychoanalysis. It will clearly distinguish the members who are Certified Practitioners, Certified Training Analysts or Certified Supervisors.
  19. Members who are not certified by IFP are asked not to mention their category of membership (on their personal websites, business cards, etc.) in a way that could create a confusion regarding their status.
